**Volunteer Role on hold but please register your interest for 2021**
Can you engage children through hands-on learning? Do you want to develop your teaching practice outside of a school environment? Would you like to gain experience of working in an award winning museum environment, inspiring children to love archaeology, history and heritage? If so, this role is for you.
We are looking for placements to work one morning a week to assist and then deliver teaching sessions to school groups. Sessions last 1 hour and are interactive. You will be given training and will assist session leaders before delivering to a school group independently. and also develop an interactive trail for schools. You will add to your skills-base through practical hands-on teaching to KS 2 primary children and also develop leadership skills. This roles offers direct experience of working with children in a cultural environment. You will grow your knowledge of archaeology and history and, by the end of the placement, you will have tangible experience of teaching in museums.
Placement lasts 3 months as below:
October-December
January-March
April-June
Time committed – 10am-12pm Tuesday or Wednesday. 2 hours per week, term time only
Time committed – 10am-12pm Thursday or Friday. 2 hours per week, term time only
Increase your experience in education and museums. Be part of an award winning education service. Work with a dedicated and inspirational team. Develop your own knowledge of the local heritage and archaeological collections held by the museum. Use your skills to convey a positive message to children. Share your knowledge and enthusiasm with different visiting groups. Help your local museum.
